Maternity Reflexology: For pre and post natal care, pre-conception and fertility issues.
Pregnancy is the natural condition of child bearing, which brings about great changes not only to the body but also in the emotions and psyche of
the mum.
Reflexology is an ancient natural therapy based on the principle that reflex points on the feet correspond to areas of the body, thus everything
that happens in the being has a reflection in the feet and vice versa. Reflexology can therefore bring about balance and harmony for the body mind
and spirit and can help maintain health and wellbeing.
Maternity reflexology is the expertise of the reflexologist in using the therapy (reflexology) to support a natural event, for example, pregnancy
and birth.
Fertility Issues?
Maternity reflexology can help with pre conceptual fertility issues. Ideally both partners should be included and considered for treatment. Both
sperm & ova need to be healthy to aid conception and hold a healthy pregnancy. This can be a very stressful time for couples, and reflexology can
aid relaxation, stress and anxiety which in turn helps to regulate the menstrual cycle and hormones for both partners.
Reflexology cannot be used to diagnose problems or illnesses and it cannot claim to cure, but there are many, many areas of life and health issues
and symptoms which can be eased on both a physical and psychological level. It is truly a relaxing and balancing therapy.
Maternity reflexologists aim to optimise the health potential of their client. They will give reflexology advice but not medical or obstetric advice.
NOTE: There may be some medical conditions which will prevent maternity reflexology - for example pre eclampsia, sudden high blood pressure,
sudden extreme swelling, low lying placenta, IVF treatment and or the taking of the drug clomid. A full consultation is taken on the first visit.
This information remains confidential but is a requirement for insurance and will help ensure the treatment is tailored to the clients needs so
they obtain maximum benefits / relaxation and enjoyment.
Frequently asked questions.
Do I need to get permission from my obstetric caregiver?
Even if you are having a natural and uncomplicated pregnancy, it is best that your carer knows that you are receiving reflexology, whether this be
your doctor, midwife or consultant. With some more serious medical conditions their consent may be needed before proceeding with treatment. A full
medical questionnaire is taken on your first visit. This is an insurance requirement and helps us further with your individual tailored treatment.
How will I feel after the session?
All clients react differently but generally you should feel great after a session. "Balanced, calm, more energetic, very relaxed, an overall good
feeling", are just a few descriptions that clients have used after a session.
Is Reflexology ok to receive throughout the entire pregnancy?
Absolutely, though more precautions are taken in the first trimester, a client can benefit from sessions starting from before conception till well
after the baby's birth.
Reflexology is also recommended throughout miscarriage as it provides a healing comfort for the client as well as bringing the body back into
balance.
Can Reflexology cause a miscarriage?
No. Maternity reflexology cannot and will not cause a viable foetus to be miscarried nor delivered early. Many midwives believe that during the
first trimester, the most common cause of miscarriage is chromosomal abnormalities in the foetus.
What if I am taking fertility drugs?
Reflexology unfortunately is not recommended when a client is undergoing IVF treatment or taking Clomid.
How many sessions are recommended and how much does it cost?
Frequency of treatment will vary from client to client depending on why they are having treatment. In an ideal world, weekly or fortnightly
treatments are recommended. The number of treatments will be discussed with you at the end of your first treatment. The cost of individual
treatments is £28. Please allow an hour for your session. Treatment time is 45 minutes.
A course of treatments can be bought and paid for in full from your first treatment. The course is 6 treatments and must be used within a 6
month period. The course cost is £155.00. No other discounts can be given or used in conjunction with this.

price £28- 45 minutes) However, 2 or more treatments may be needed. For subsequent induction treatments, Pamela offer Shorter treatments at
£20 for 30 minutes treatment time.
Please get in touch with Pamela to discuss your needs.

"I had maternity reflexology every two weeks during my pregnancy. I made a note
Each fortnight of any pregnancy related pains I was having. The therapist and I discussed areas of concern at the beginning of each treatment.
The focussed work
The therapist did really helped and made my pregnancy a much more enjoyable
experience. It was a lovely way to relax and let my body and bump have some
pampering."

"I was becoming increasingly concerned about my irregular monthly cycle and having missed five periods I decided to visit Pamela upon recommendation.
Since our first reflexology session I have noticed a huge improvement, not only am I getting a regular cycle but also I am much less stressed.
I very much look forward to my sessions with Pamela as not only do I believe it helps with my fertility issues but also the whole experience
is very relaxing and enjoyable."

"I went four days overdue when having my baby and had tried everything to bring on
labour, you name it I did it and I even went for a cervical sweep but nothing
worked....that was until I decided to try reflexology! I went to see Pamela for
Reflexology at 4 in the afternoon and at 8.30 that evening my waters broke and I
went on to have my baby the next day! Reflexology was very relaxing and during the
treatment I could feel my baby reacting to Pamela's wonder hands! I would recommend anyone to give it a go, a lovely, natural way to bring
along your baby if they need a gentle nudge!!"
